I’ve packed off a print to New York for ‘A Show of Heads’ at the Limner Gallery. The show runs from the 3rd to the 27th November, and yes, the secret to shipping photographic prints internationally is… plywood!

Just published an interactive multimedia portrait, hopefully the first of many.

It’s called Portrait of a Squat, explore the squat, meet the people and hear what they have to say.

Also, check out one of the now former residents’ blogs. Vyvian Roaul writes about anything and everything and has been helping me out with introductions to London’s canal community for an ongoing project. He was particularly spot on about the riots, so pay him a visit.

I recently worked with Karen Storey on a surrealist concept of hers as a technical exercise in shooting plates for compositing in post production, which was done by retoucher and CGI artist Kieran Clancy. Separate exposures were taken of our model on location, propped up above the ground, of the tree for background separation and of a cricket lawn under matching lighting conditions, which were then joined together to make the final shot.

Got an email through from fellow photographer Ollie Woods that Portrait Salon are exhibiting rejected Taylor Wessing entries to give exposure to the many thousands of photographs that didn’t make the cut.

I collected my 2011 Taylor Wessing portrait prize entry prints last week (printed by Brian Dowling at BDI Images, who comes highly recommended), having received my rejection email, to be told that my image of a student protester had reached the final 100 in the judging, of which 60 were chosen for exhibition. I am simultaneously encouraged and somewhat annoyed.

Leszek is a massage therapist and former cycle courier, in the course of shooting this portrait I gained some interesting insights into the concept of balance, in the abstract sense.
